Skyline Apartment REIT Acquires Fourth Property of 2012

On the heels of three recent acquisitions in the second quarter of 2012, Skyline Apartment REIT acquired its 105th property in the lovely town of Dundas (Ontario) located just north of Hamilton.  This 102-unit building is located at 16 Helen Street in an affluent section of the city, nestled between single family homes in a safe and coveted neighbourhood.  The building also backs on to Dundas Park and is just minutes from McMaster University.

Although this new acquisition expanded the Skyline Apartment REIT portfolio into its 40th community, its proximity to Hamilton will allow it to benefit from efficiencies and capitalize on economies of scale with the other portfolio properties in that area.  The purchase price of this new property was approximately $8.8 million.

As of the end of the second quarter of 2012, Skyline Apartment REIT is now made up of 7,760 apartment units and over 700,000 square feet of commercial space…and growing!
