COVID-19 Updates

[March 31, 2020]

Dear Customers,

With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to evolve, we wanted to thank you for your continued support as we all work together to flatten the curve. Skyline continues to operate on a business as usual basis, albeit remotely.

Over the last week, the federal and some provincial governments have released information about relief coming for business owners. Most recently, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the following on March 27:

  • To help small businesses, the federal government launched the Canada Emergency Business Account. Through this, banks will soon offer $40,000 loans that will be guaranteed by the government. For those that qualify, the loan could be interest-free for the first year, with up to $10,000 of it forgivable if it is repayed by December 31, 2022.
  • Previously announced payroll subsidies are increasing from 10% to 75%. These subsidies are backdated to March 15, 2020.
  • GST and HST payments, as well as duties and taxes on imports, are deferred until June.
  • Export Development Canada and the Business Development Bank of Canada have $12.5 billion in support to help small and medium businesses with cash flow requirements

[March 16, 2020]

Dear Customers,

Over the weekend, the Federal and Provincial governments have made further recommendations to reduce the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). With the new information, Skyline has taken some additional steps to ensure the health and safety of our tenants, our staff, and the greater communities we serve.

New Action from Skyline:

  • Remote working for staff – As of Tuesday, March 17, all staff will be working remotely. We have taken the steps required to make sure staff members are fully accessible from their remote work locations to ensure we can continue to operate and provide the service that you expect from Skyline.
  • Suspension of non-essential occupied unit service – Building staff will only be conducting essential service in occupied units. All non-essential service will be postponed until further notice.
  • Updated essential services – We are working with our suppliers to determine if there will be any change to essential building services (e.g. snow removal, garbage pickup, recycling pickup). We will let you know of any changes to these services as we become aware of them.

What Skyline will continue to do:

  • Enhanced cleaning procedures – Property Management staff will increase the frequency of cleaning with a disinfectant in all common area high contact points (such as elevator buttons and door handles).
  • Increased communications – We will keep you up to date on the latest news as the pandemic evolves. Information will be shared on our websites (SkylineCommercial.ca; SkylineRetail.ca; SkylineOnline.ca), our social media channels, and via email.

Please remember to:

  • Wash your hands thoroughly – Make sure to wash your hands before and after you touch your face, eat or drink, prepare food, cough, or sneeze. Be sure to wash your hands for a minimum of 20 seconds.
  • Follow us on social media – Follow our Twitter account @SkylineGrp (https://twitter.com/SkylineGrp) for the latest information.
  • Closely monitor your health for COVID-19 symptoms – Symptoms are similar to a regular cold or flu (fever, cough, difficulty breathing).
  • Self-isolate – If you experience any COVID-19 symptoms, isolate yourself, contact your local Public Health Authority, and notify your employer.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Maria Duckett, Vice President, Skyline Commercial at 519-826-0439 ext. 226.
